THE DETAILS

Rose Scheidecker

Rose Scheidecker (nee Amodio) died peacefully on February 22, just a month short of her 90th birthday.

Born in Brooklyn, Rose graduated from Forest Hills High School and worked as an administrative assistant. She often recalled the days of spending time on Liberty Avenue and attending St. Michael’s Church and School.

After meeting Joseph Scheidecker in that very same Brooklyn neighborhood, they married, moved to Lynbrook, and raised 3 daughters: Janet, Lynda, and Laura. There, she was an active member of the Our Lady of Lourdes parish community, attending rosary altar society meetings and making great friends.

Rose is pre-deceased by her husband, beloved sister Tillie Ascher, and brother E. Roger Amodio, in addition to numerous friends and family members. Survivors include daughters Janet Tymeck (Joseph), Lynda Riccio (Jeffrey), and Laura Morr (John). Also surviving her are her cherished grandchildren, Erica, Nicholas, Madeline, and Robert, and great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose. Later in life, Rose was blessed to serve as “bonus Grandma” to Ashley Riccio Giles (Tommy), Jeffrey Riccio (Cara), and baby Penelope Giles.
